Frequently asked questions
What order should I watch the Marvel movies in?
There are two common orders. Release order follows the dates the films came out, starting with Iron Man (2008). Chronological order follows the story timeline, starting with Eyes of Wakanda, set long before Iron Man. This site lists both: release order on the home page and story (chronological) order on the timeline page. This site recommends release order for a first-time watcher. Story (chronological) order is more fun once you have already seen the movies.
What is the difference between release order and chronological order?
Release order sorts by release date. Chronological order sorts by when the story happens. Chronological order moves prequels like Captain Marvel (1995) and Captain America: The First Avenger (1940s) to the front.
Do I need to watch everything?
No. Set Show to Essential, or see the essential MCU watch order, to skip straight to the entries that matter for the main story.
Do I need an account to track my progress?
No. When you mark a title watched or skipped, your browser saves it right away. Sign in with just your email to sync your progress across all your devices.
What do I need to create an account?
Only an email address. You do not need a password or a name. MCU Watch emails you a sign-in link. Your account stores your email address and syncs the titles you mark as watched or skipped across your devices.
